Friday, November 2, 1866 – Joaquin Bolado (44 – b. March 3, 1822, Santander, Spain) and José G. Arques (27) buy 8/10ths of the share of Rancho Santa Ana y Quien Sabe owned by the Manuel Salvador Larios Estate’s non-minor heirs, excluding shares owned by Patrocinio Larios (16) and Estolano Larios (10):

This indenture made and entered into this second day of November 1866, by and between Maria del Rosario Armas de Larios, widow of Manuel Larios deceased;
Jose Maria Larios,
Manuel L. Larios,
Gracia Larios,
José Antonio Larios,
Jose Dolores Larios,
Martina Larios de Soto, wife of Deogracio Soto, and
Deogracio Soto her husband, and
Guadalupe Larios de Quiñones, wife of Reyes Quiñones, and,
Reyes Quiñones, her husband,
Parties hereto of the first part; and all of the county of Monterey and State of California,

And

Joaquin Bolado of the State of California and City and County of San Francisco and, José G. Arques of the same state and County of Santa Clara, parties hereto of the second part.

Witnesseth that the said parties of the first part for and in consideration of the sum of seventeen thousand two hundred dollars lawful money of the United States: Nine Thousand Two Hundred of which has been to us in hand paid at and before the ensealing and delivery of these presents, the receipt whereof is hereby acknowledged, the remaining Eight Thousand Dollars to be paid according to the tenor and effect of a certain agreement in writing between the said parties of the first part and the said parties of the second part, and bearing even date herewith, have granted, bargained sold and conveyed, and by these presents do grant, bargain, sell and convey unto the said parties of the second part, and unto their heirs and assigns forever: all of their and each of their right title and interest in and to that certain tract of land in the State of California, and county of Monterey and there known as the Ranchos Santa Ana y Quien Sabe: being the same tract of land more particularly bounded and described in certain letter patent of the Government of the United States to Manuel Larios, Frederick A. MacDougall, Anatolio Anzar, Juan Francisco Anzar y Policronio Anzar, and bearing date the first day of May AD 1860 and containing 48,822 60/100 acres: saving and excepting from this conveyance so much of said tract of land as lays within the boundaries of a certain conveyance by Manuel Larios to Jose Antonio Larios dated the 17th day of April AD 1862 and recorded in the office of the county recorder in and for the county of Monterey in Book “E” of Conveyances and pages 227, and following together with all and singular the tenements and hereditaments and appurtenances thereunto belonging or in any way appertaining with the rents, issues + profits thereof.

To have and to hold the same unto the said parties of the second part, and unto their heirs and assigns forever in shares following, to wit: to the said Joaquin Bolado two undivided third parts thereof, and unto the said Jose G. Arques, his heirs and assigns the one undivided third part thereof, and the said parties of the first part for themselves their assigns covenant and agree with the said parties of the second part their heirs and assigns that Refugio Altamirano de Carlo, wife of Pedro Carlo of the said county of Monterey has no right title or interest in and to said tract of land or any part thereof, and they the said parties of the first part, for themselves, their heirs executors administrator and assigns covenant and agree to warrant and defend the possession of said tract of land and every part thereof unto the said parties of the second part their heirs and assigns against the claims of the wife of the said Pedro Carlo and all persons claiming by through or under her – but against none others save and except themselves and all persons claiming by through or under them.

In witness whereof the said parties of the first part have hereunto set their hands, and seals the day and year first above written.
